Ralph and Ida Genova are local educators with over 40 years combined teaching experience. They ran a learning center in the Summit area for 15 years, teaching math and reading/language arts to students ages 4 and up. Ida Genova received her Bachelor’s Degree from Seton Hall University and a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Before retiring, she taught English as a Second Language in the Union Public School system for nine years. She was an English instructor at Seton Hall University, where she taught reading and writing, as well as freshman English. In addition, she has taught music in the classroom and was a substitute teacher for many years. Ralph Genova received his Bachelor’s Degree in English from Seton Hall University. He was a Catholic school teacher in Union for 4 years and he has been a computer programmer for the past 32 years. In 1993, Ralph and Ida Genova opened a private learning center in Summit, New Jersey. During this time they taught mathematics, language arts and reading to over a thousand students in the Summit/Millburn/New Providence area. They ran this center successfully for 15 years before taking a hiatus in 2008. In 2009, Ralph and Ida Genova opened the Ashton Academy, a new self-study, independent learning center for students ages 4 and up. This supervised independent learning program offers many of the benefits of their previous learning program, but with more flexibility and differentiated instructional techniques. |
